Our scholars were back in professional action last night as our U17 squad took on Championship club Luton Town FC on the outskirts of Greater London. Coming of a fantastic result vs Leyton Orient U18s it was now time for our first years to prove themselves.
The game started with a great intensity, both teams attacked quickly and tried to get on the front foot. It was FSA who struck first as Dominic Fisher finished superbly to give FSA a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute. Luton Town hit back immediately as they leveled minutes later with a perfect through ball and 1v1 finish. FSA then took the game by the scruff of the neck and dominated a 20-minute period with continuing attacks from full backs Denzel Akyeampong and Aaron Nuttall. It was the 17-year-old Louie Hart who then struck a fantastic 25-yard-strike to give FSA a 2-1 lead at half time.
Neither team was happy with the score, as the second half whistle brought on an immediate flurry of early chances for both teams. It was Dominic Fisher again who took the chance and put Fox Soccer Academy 3-1 up and in full control. Fisher and Kerins put the game to bed with two more fantastic strikes making it 5-1 before Fisher pounced on a spilt Lee Quincey free-kick bagging his 4th of the night and completing a dominant second half performance.
GAME REACTIONS
Mark Smith - Programme Director
“I am extremely proud of the way our players conducted themselves during the game. They managed the game well at times and were clinical when they needed to be. Our players accepted the challenge, laid down by our second year scholars after the excellent result of our second year scholars against Leyton Orient, and represented Fox Soccer Academy perfectly. It’s not every day you see an un-signed player score 4 goals against a professional academy team.”
