WARWICK, New York – The league’s East Region continues to grow as the Women’s Premier Soccer League officially welcomes Fox Soccer Academy ahead of the upcoming season.
Fox Soccer Academy was founded by current Leicester City FC player, Christian Fuchs, as an international academy with locations in the United States, England, and Austria. The club is committed to offering its players the best possible soccer education based on an English Premier League curriculum and believes the WPSL will continue this commitment.
“This is an exciting opportunity for Fox Soccer Academy to continue developing premier soccer players who strive to play in the professional ranks and with our success developing elite players in Europe we are now looking to do the same in the United States,” Fuchs said. “The addition of a WPSL team as part of our Academy program will benefit all our players as the level of quality required to compete for a title in the WPSL is exciting and we look forward to working with women committed to achieving nothing short of excellence.”
Fox Soccer Academy has 15 youth girls and boys teams that compete in the New York Club Soccer League and also fields men’s team which competes in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) and won its division within its first two seasons in the league.
“The addition of the WPSL team enhances our overall development as an Academy,” Fox Soccer Academy director of operations, Scott Goodman said. “Young girls will now have women players whom they can watch train and play at the same facility they train at and be inspired to develop into elite players with a clear pathway through Fox Soccer Academy to professional women’s soccer.”
For the inaugural season, Fox Soccer Academy will compete in the North Division of the Metropolitan Conference in the league’s East Region. They will compete against seven other teams from New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont, including three additional expansion teams.
Home matches will be played at Hudson Sports Complex, a facility owned and operated by Christian and Raluca Fuchs. The facility also hosts multiple soccer camps in the summer provided by Fox Soccer Academy. Ticket information will be provided closer to the start of the season.
“We look forward to having the same success in the USA that we have had in Europe developing professional players,” Fox Soccer Academy international program director, Mark Smith said. “We are committed to developing professional players and the addition of a team in the WPSL will enhance those efforts.”
The club will host open tryouts on March 21st from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm.
